India celebrates about 400 festivals in a year that is more than one festival a day. The culture in itself proves how traditions are interwoven in an individual’s life and it gives immense pleasure on how these traditions bind our relations. On this note, my most favourite festival is all about the relationship between a brother and a sister, yes you got it right, its ‘rakshabandhan’. It shows how a mere thread can be so important that it can bind two people for an entire lifetime. As we are all aware of how the festival goes about, as the name suggests ‘raksha’ to protect and ‘bandhan’ a bond. Sister ties a thread, referred as ‘Rakhi’, on the wrist of the brother and in turn, asks for a promise, which is that he provides safety to her from everyone who tries to harm her in any possible way.

The origin of Rakshabandhan

As my grandmother used to suggest, a background of Raksha Bandhan goes back to the time of Mahabharata. Even though Lord Krishna and Draupadi were not related biologically, he used to respect her his sister. Lord Krishna was to behead Shishupal, but while performing the act, Lord Krishna cut his finger. Draupadi, who was present there, immediately tore off a piece of her saree and tied it over his wound to stop it from bleeding. Lord Krishna was overwhelmed with this gesture and promised that he would be there whenever she needs his protection. He kept his promise and came to her rescue when even she needed him. Since then women started to tie a cotton thread to their brothers, seeking their protection.

Difficulties in following the rituals in these modern times

All my childhood I cherished the festival, my brother was around, and on ‘rakshabandhan’ we made amazing memories. Last year he started to work in a company in Pune while our entire family was settled in Gurgaon. His work life made it impossible for him to come to Gurgaon to celebrate the festival for a day and I kept on wondering what I will do? How should I send Rakhi to Pune? Courier was an immediate solution. But what If I had to send flowers to Pune or wanted to send a combo of cake and rakhi to Pune. I had to go to the hassle of contacting a florist in Pune and probably ask him to deliver, pay him in advance and keep blind faith in him to do his job. It all felt too shabby barge in such a deal, and my rakhi went as the worst rakhi ever.

A perfect resolution.

The coming Rakshabandhan is going to be way better because I have come across a perfect way for Rakhi delivery to Pune. It is a website through which I am going to online send Rakhi to Pune. Along with rakhi they also do online cake and flower delivery in Pune as well. All of it without paying a hefty amount and the best part is I get the assurance that my order will be delivered in the given time. I will send the best of the rakhi to my brother and will also get a cake delivery to Pune done through this website.
